this has got to be the worst product I've ever used! The smell it leaves in my house is disgusting and I threw the whole device out within 1 week of using it. The slide bar never works properly and my cats HATE the box. I am in the process of emailing one of the customer service managers about this product in hopes that he can refund the money I wasted purchasing this product. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!! It is horrible and does nothing for odor control and makes a mess!

Yes, the cartridges are expensive, but completely worth it. This never gets jammed like the Litter Maid. With one cat, cartridges last about 3.5 weeks. I'll never go back to regular litter!

Works well for my two cats! Very low maintenance but you will want to change it more often than 30 days. The cartridges are expensive but are worth it. I often add extra crystals.

I wanted to wait to give my review to make sure my cats liked it. It took some changing around in the house as to where it was going to get used. If the old kitties could they would use the old boxes the younger kitties adapted quicker. We have 6 cats now and the clay litter would get stinky fast. After about 3 moves I think I have figured out the good places for these boxes. I bought two and I have two old boxes, they are beginning to use the Scoop Free much more than in the beginning, they seem to use it more for urinating than pooing, but that's okay because sometimes the rake does get stuck with poo, but most of the time its fine. I'm pleased with this product and I did purchase it with the addition of two kitties and its helping with all the cats we have.

Maybe there isn't a completely satisfactory method of disposing of cat waste. Even though this box does scoop, there is always something that is missed. Maybe it is just my cats. Also, the cartridges only last one week with two kittens.

This litter box works great! The replacement litter cartridges are expensive. We have two cats and have to replace cartridges every 10 to 14 days. The cleanup is easy. If you can afford it... get it!

When I got my first indoor-only cat, I knew I'd probably need to get an automated litter box due to my anticipated forgetfulness about scooping. I read all the reviews and this one was pretty universally recommended compared to the others available on the market. I've been using it for about 10 months since I first adopted a former stray through the shelter. He took to it right away without any problems. Whenever it goes through its cleaning cycle, he tries to attack the metal sweeper, but it has stood up well to his abuse. I have to change out the cartridges approximately every 3 weeks. I've been very happy with it. It does a good job with odor and is pretty quiet too.

With all of the praise I have for the box, it's a little disappointing that the price of the replacement cartridges has continued to rise. It doesn't seem that they should be as expensive as they are, and shouldn't prices go down over time as production increases?

This is soooooo much better than hand scooping a litterbox every day that I don't regret the purchase at all. It works great, our kitten went right to it and with the optional hood on odor has been greatly reduced. There's going to be some smell in the 20 minute window between when the cat uses the box and when the rake runs. But if you're around and in a hurry, you can push the button to make it work faster.

30 days between changes is dreaming. We have one 6 month old kitten ... maybe a kitten produces more waste because they're growing so fast? I don't know, but I have to clean out the #2 holder about once a week and need to change the whole cartridge about every 2 weeks.

But hey .... once every couple of weeks is GREAT compared to a standard litter box so I'm not complaining. The only reason I give this 4 stars intead of 5 is that they get your hopes up with the 30 day advertising and I can't imagine what cat poops so little that 30 days worth would fit in that little compartment.

It is a great product though that has made life MUCH easier so overall I recommend it highly.

I am very pleased with the Scoopfree litter box system, and my two cats adjusted fairly quickly. I added Scoopfree crystals to their regular litter for a couple of weeks, and then moved to a new house, put out the Scoopfree automatic box, and they have been using it with no problems. I do find it necessary to redistribute and mix up the crystals every few days, but that may be only because my cats like to pile it all into one corner of the box. I will probably buy the hood now, since they do scatter the litter about, and it is a lot sharper to step on than the ground clay litter.

Most importantly, I find not having to deal with the box so frequently a real plus, and well worth the price of the sytem and supplies. The mechanism is noisier than I expected based on other comments, but one gets used to it.

This is a great litter box - no smell or dust from clay litter. The refill cartridges are expensive and I find I have to change mine more frequently with two cats. Once the retrival box is filled it gets pretty stinky but I scoop out the waste, add a cup or two of crystals (to the litter tray) that I purchased at the grocery store, and it's good to go for another week. That is saving me alot of money versus purchasing refill cartridges every week. There's a lot less mess in general with this box and I highly recommend it to anyone with cats!
