This is a great cover for the litter box. I hated that my guests had to look at yukky cat litter whenever they wanted to use the potty in our home and now its not visible! Also, this is made of something that looks like a basket, but isn’t so it doesn’t pick up and hang onto odors! It’s well ventialted by its construction and the opening is big enough for the cat, the space inside is large enough that she doesn’t mind it (in fact, I think she kind of likes the privacy). It is very heavy so the cat can’t knock it over and the real bonus is that it contains kicked litter into a space that I don’t have to walk over in my bare feet when entering the powder room! It is well worth the price and then some!
I made this purchase because my 1 year-old daughter kept getting into our cats’ litter box. She had figured out the latches on the covered box and it was a big mess! I got this and it was pretty easy to put together. I bought it knowing that it wasn’t real wicker (a plus because my big cat LOVES to attack wicker). It’s easy to put the front panel down for cleaning (my 5 year-old can do it too!). My 1 year-old hasn’t figured it out and now seems disinterested since it’s not so easy access anymore. Overall, I’m very happy with this product.
I was a little hesitant about ordering the cat box cover. I have heard of cats rejecting covered litter boxes because they feel threatened in a small space from where they cannot escape. To my delight, the cover is very tall and roomy! It also lets in plenty of light so it’s not dark and scary inside. I can see inside the box to determine if it needs cleaning just by walking by–without having to peek in. I was also worried my cat may decide to claw the box because it looks like wicker. However, it’s actually a resin/plastic material and she has shown no interest in clawing. The box took about 10 minutes to put together, though I did have some trouble understanding the instructions. I first introduced it to my cat without the front entry door attached. Once she got used to having the cover over her box, I attached the front entry door. She uses the box without a problem. I’m very, very happy.
It is very sturdy. My cats like it. Easy to wash. Glad I bought it.
My new Kitten is extremely picky about the design of her privy. We looked thru many web sites and catalogs in the decision making of this purchace. The Kitten’s first choice, as with so many Kittens, was to go with an early colonial look. I told her that was a bit mundane and to go with something a bit more exotic. She’s always had a fancy for the bamboo/jungle look. “That alluring atmosphere makes me want to shake out a sewer trout”, she exclaimed! That statment was the decision maker. Shortly after assembling the Midwest BayIsle Hide-A-Way Litter-Box Cover, my Kitten leaped right in and immediately commenced with a massive tom cruise missile. To say the least, I was impressed. Since then, she has launched many stanley steamers into the Midwest BayIsle Hide-A-Way Litter-Box. I highly recommend this product.
I bought this cover when I moved and no longer has a good hiding place for the litter box. The front side easily drops down making scooping a breeze. I have two male cats, and had typically only used covered litter boxes, so I did have to remove the lid/top part of the plastic litter box for it to fit under this cover, and I ended up buying one of those litter boxes with the high back because my boy cats have a tendancy to spray up in the back. But the litter pan with the sloped up back combined with this cover make the box both non-invasive in my apartment and easy to clean.
I live in an apartment and don’t have a good place to hide my litter box. This is a a great way to conceal your litter box. And it’s much less expensive than many of the other things I saw. Most people don’t even know the litter box is in there!
This kitty litter container was supposed to hide the box, but after assembling it, and placing a comfy pillow in it, our cat now has her own home. She sleeps there all the time except at night where she calls our bed her home. This is a great product however you use it AND it was easy to put together. No tools required and it looks charming in any room.
It is a wonderful piece of furniture for your home & Kitty – I live in a loft so there is no where to hide the ugly cat box! This hides it and blends in with the rest of my home decor. Cheers to the person who came up with this – keep it coming with some new designs and color.
The first thing is that this is a litter box cover. There is no floor. It goes over your existing cat box. The size is perfect. The assembly is intuitive but awkward for one person. Working from the pictures is better than from the written directions. Also, this is plastic not wicker. If your cat misses the box you can take that part into the back yard and hose it off. Mine is slightly lighter in color than the pictures here, but otherwise it is identical. My cat does not like enclosed cat boxes, so this is perfect. It is private, but airy and not confining.
I am satisfied with both quality and appearance of the product considering its reasonable price. I have a large cat and this litter box cover is roomy enough to accomodate her. Easy to assemble, easy to clean.
Set up took a few minutes, but overall the product is pretty good. Have a 2 Gallon Fish Bowl sitting on top of it- product is sturdy enough to support the weight.
Cat likes it too.
I live in a small studio and the only spot I had to put the cat box was at the entrance so that’s the first thing you saw when you walked in! The hideaway works great. It fits a box with a lid perfectly. I have the entrance hole pointed towards the wall so you can’t even tell it’s a litter box. The nice thing is that you can put a plant on it and nobody will know. I gave it 4 stars because of the material – it’s has plastic feel to it rather than wicker which is what the picture shows. Other than that it’s great!
Had my eye on this for awhile, and finally purchased to hide kitty litter in spare bathroom during for-sale-home-showings. Really worth every penny! Assembly instructions were a little challenging for me, and some panels were a tiny struggle to get to fit correctly. Also the faux-wicker on one panel started unraveling but I would DEFINITELY BUY AGAIN if I couldn’t live with it! Kitty doesn’t mind going inside and this actually keeps my tile floor much cleaner by enclosing all those little granules that fly out when she starts scratching around! Make sure you note the dimensions, because this litter cover is quite large for smaller bathrooms like mine. I don’t mind though – much more attractive than looking at the box itself. I really think it “fools” people with it’s furniture “look!”
This wicker litter box cover was just what I needed for my home office. I have 3 cats and I needed at least 2 litterboxes in my home. It was a little difficult for me to assemble but I did manage to do it. It is easy to clean out the litter box and looks good with my home office furniture.
If you want a reasonably attractive way to hide the litter box, this isn’t a bad option, especially for larger cats. Assembly is intuitive, which is fortunate, since the instructions were obviously not written by a native English speaker. Follow the pictures; or, if you’re bilingual, go with the Spanish instructions. Another caveat: the description lead me to believe that a litter box was included–it’s not. However, PetsMart sells a large litter box for about 12 bucks that fits perfectly.
At first glance – putting this together was a pain – but after about two three tries and a helping hand from my husband we got it to work for us. I thought it would be more of a wood material as opposed to plastic – so gives it a cheaper appearance. Litter box isn’t the full size of the litter cover, so not sure if your cats wil have this problem, but mine seem to balance on the front opening of the cover and side of the litter box, and miss the litter box and go all over the floor:( Not sure if this is confusing to them or what. The front door opening is a nice touch and allows for easy cleaning and it looks much better than you standard kitty litter box, but right now it’s just not working for us. I had to put it away and revert to our original box, since the cats keep their mess in the box and not on the outside like they do in this one. Maybe I’ll revert it to a kitty bed instead.
I thought it was wicker, and probably should’ve read closer, so I was disappointed to find it was made of plastic, and had that horrid plastic smell to go with it. It’s not sturdy at all, and is a bit of a pain to put together. However, it does cover the litter box, but might actually make it more noticeable since it’s larger than the litter box.
When I got this thing I was impressed with how sturdy all the sides and beams are, right up until I couldnt hook the thing together because it didn’t line up properly. Eventually my brother and father came over and muscled it into place. However once set up its nice. I bought a cat bed for it, so right now its just a hideaway, and the cats like it (both my cats like little enclosed areas). Be advised that it doesn’t have a bottom, but with the material its made of thats probably a good thing. If it DID have a bottom and was used as a litterbox retreat it’d be next to impossible to clean the floor of it. Either as a litterbox retreat or just a hide-a-way its definitely a really cute piece. Its also cheaper than other products like this. The price seems to be fluctuating a lot. I first saw it for $80, but I waited and ended up getting it for $50 so if you’re interested, you might be able to wait for the sale price to drop down again.
